What does it mean to stake someone?

To stake someone is to financially back them.  In poker, you provide the money to the player to play with in exchange for a percentage of profits. By giving up a percentage of future profits, the player benefits by not risking their own money. By taking on that financial risk, the investor hopes to gain from future profits.

Someone can be staked for the short-term or long-term, depending on the agreement between player and investor. You can be staked for a single MTT or cash game session, staked for several months or years, or staked for a number of games, for example 5,000 online MTTs.

Here at Pocarr we provide financial backing, strategic poker coaching, mental coaching, mentoring, and much more as an all-inclusive package for professional poker players.
